Mayor:

The City Council has been unable to demonstrate, as required by section 101 of the Act, that it is managing its revenues, expenses, assets, liabilities, investments and general financial dealings prudently and in a manner that promotes the current and future interests of the community − Audit NZ on the Tauranga City Council (TCC) draft 2009 LTCCP. 

TCC is a complex enterprise: $2+ billion of assets, 28 different activity areas, $140+ million turnover, 100,000+ customers. 

And it is failing. 

I made a very good living (I retired at the age of 43) solving the problems of complex enterprises operating globally, and I can solve the problems of TCC. 

But things have to change; and for that change to be effective, it must start at the top.

Councillor:

Tauranga City Council is failing. A mis−managed growth strategy has damaged the viability of the city centre, created roading chaos, wreaked environmental havoc, overwhelmed infrastructure provision, and created a civil defence nightmare. 

Meanwhile, debt spirals and rates rise faster than any comparable city in New Zealand. But this is not surprising. 

TCC is not your average small business. It is a complex enterprise − operating in a rapidly changing political, economic and social environment. 

To succeed, it needs Councillors with more than just good intentions − they must also have the necessary skill and experience. 

I made a very good living (I retired at the age of 43) solving the problems of complex enterprises operating globally. 

I have the skills and experience TCC needs.
