About the Henderson - Massey Local Board

The Local Government Commission determined on the 12th March that the Henderson-Massey Local Board would stretch from Trig Road and Luckens Road in the north to Hepburn Road in the South, and from Te Atatu Peninsula in the east to Candia Road in the West. Glendene, Henderson, Lincoln, McLaren Park, Massey East and West, Ranui, Sunnyvale, Te Atatu Peninsula, Te Atatu South, West Harbour and Western Heights are the main centers that make up the local board area.

Question

John Riddell's Reply

Inorganic collection - will you bring it back?

Inorganic rubbish collections -  Myself and Allen Davies took a notice of motion to the Massey Community Board opposing changes to the inorganic rubbish collection.

Unfortunately it was a Council decision and while we could echo the views of Massey Ward residents, the Councillors were unmoved, citing safety concerns among other things.

The collections are an eye sore, and one way of helping is to provide householders to take the rubbish to the tip free of charge once a year. The move to user pays takes away I believe an essential service and over time inorganic rubbish that was collected yearly will become a health and safety issue as it will pile up in many peoples back yards and under their houses.
