I live at Tuateawa on ancestral Ngati Raukatauri−a−Huarere, Ngati Porou lands held for 460 years. Raised in Kennedy Bay, attended secondary school at Mt Albert Grammar, I hold tertiary qualifications in Quarry Management, Diploma Social Work and completing a Bachelor of Maori Law. I have three children and five grandchildren. Whilst running a printing business in Coromandel in the 70/80's I served 2 terms as a Coromandel Community Councillor. I currently chair Harataunga Marae Trustees, Secretary Te Runanga O Ngati Porou ki Hauraki, involved in fisheries, aquaculture and environmental projects. I have been 8 years a consultant/ specialist caregiver for mental health disabilities and difficult youth, 11 years a Youth Justice Co−ordinator and Practice Consultant for Social Welfare 7 years a Probation Officer and earlier worked in Quarry and Construction Management in Whitianga, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. My policies will be formulated in consultation with our local community.
