Former Porirua Mayor, John has earned reputation over the years for focussing on what needs doing and then getting it done. Indeed the substantial progress Porirua City made during his time is evidence of his hard work and dedication. 

The Porirua Community Trust which was established 4 years ago from the dissolution of the Porirua Licensing Trust is no longer involved in the competitive liquor sales business. 

Its role now is to distribute funds from its gaming foundation to worthy local community projects and manage and distribute the profits from its property portfolio business. This amounts to nearly two million dollars annually. John who currently chairs the Porirua Community Trust was closely involved in its successful restructure and believes that its future activities should be limited to the functions of the; 

1. Prudent management of property assets and 

2. Fair distribution of grants to worthy local projects
