John worked at Capital and Coast DHB as the Senior Governance Advisor in 2007/08 and as the Corporate Services Manager for their IT subsidiary in 2008/09.  He knows the systems, people and processes surrounding the Board and DHB.

The DHB is a mix of various health providers and getting them to work together to provide services to the community is key.  I feel that Health is personal and about people.  I have attended Board meetings with parents pouring their hearts out with various personal stories.  This is the only industry that truly mixes life and death.

John in his professional capacity contracts on governance, Board secretarial practice and CFO roles. He has worked in Health, IT, Education and central Government.  For more about John visit www.katapo.co.nz

He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries, a Chartered Accountant and a Provisionally Accredited member of the Institute of Directors.

Conflicts of Interest

To the best of my knowledge and belief, I have no conflicts of interest with the Capital and Coast District Health Board (DHB) at the date of my notice of consent to being nominated as a candidate for membership of the board of the DHB, and I believe that any such conflicts are likely to arise in future.
