Jimmy works tirelessly across a number of roles across Christchurch public and community services. He is keen to engage people and hear their views and is familiar with local issues. Some priorities for Jimmy are to improve safety in the communities, promote cultural diversity and to be an advocate of promoting open and transparent governance in the Council’s decision making process and to provide better service to all residents in Christchurch.
Top 5 Issues

Personal Profile
We need new blood to improve the quality, openness, and transparency of the
decision making in the City Council. As a current Riccarton /Wigram Community
Board member, I‘ve engaged more than eight thousand and six hundred households
in the last three years, I’ve worked to listen to and express the concerns of residents
to the City Council and other government agencies, and I now request your support to
represent you on the Council and Community Board, so I can do even more.
My commitments include improving the community safety, ensuring that streets and
footpaths have better maintenance, helping youth to be our future with investment in
the community, advocating for increase in community funding to community groups,
monitoring that public facilities meet the needs of elderly people, as well as the
promotion of racial harmony and cultural diversity in Christchurch.
My community service includes a committee member of the Hei Hei/ Broomfield
Community Development Trust, Christchurch Multicultural Council Inc, Canterbury
Police Asian Advisory Group, elected member of Burnside High School BOT,
volunteer of Christchurch Citizens Advice Bureau, and an interpreter for New
Zealand Police, Christchurch Courts, NZ Immigration Service, Hillmorton & Princess
Margaret Hospitals and other government agencies.
I am married with two daughters, and hold Master of Commerce and Bachelor of
Science degrees. I have the knowledge and experience to represent you on the City
Council and Community Board. Being part of the People’s Choice 2021 team gives
me added support to achieve your Goals.
