Jim Gerard offers a wealth of experience. He is a former Member of Parliament for Rangiora, served as New Zealand Ambassador in Canada, and was Waimakariri Mayor for six years.
He has served on the Lincoln University Board, the Canterbury Business Board, the Oxford County Council. He was a Farmer, and involved in Federated Farmers.
He is currently a member of the Rangiora Ward Advisory Board, Chairman of the Waimakariri Covered Pool Committee's very successful Major Fundraising committee, and played a major part in the campaign to build the new pool, and also in the abolition of the targeted 5km Rangiora rate, which he describes as the most unfair and inequitable thinking ever proposed, especially when Rangiora was to be treated differently to Kaiapoi and Oxford.
Jim Gerard wants to see Rangiora part of a united district with Councillors working together to ensure a positive, affordable future.
