Thank you for the wonderful community support we have received, especially throughout the recession. 

I remain focused on keeping rate increases as low as possible, while maintaining and improving our infrastructure and meeting our community needs.  A recent report highlights that we have the fourth lowest level of rates in New Zealand.

Our strength as a district is our ability to work together and create an environment for excellence.  My role as Mayor is to encourage and maintain this environment and to show clear, purposeful and sound leadership.

Some of our highlights have been the continued success of recycling, completion of the Caroline Bay redevelopment, main sewer extension, eleven new public sculptures, walkway development, Canterbury Water Strategy, Maori Rock Art Centre, Aquatic Centre, Washdyke lights, and reduction of gang activity.

There are still many challenges ahead of us and I respectfully ask for your support to continue as your Mayor.
