Former President and long term member of Portage Licensing Trust. Strong, independent voices are essential on the Local Board to ensure planned work is implemented by Auckland Council. Proven experience is imperative to make the new structure work for people. The Waitakere Ranges Board must recognise and protect the diversity within: the urban centres of Glen Eden, Titirangi and Swanson, the coastal areas of Huia, Piha, Karekare, and Bethells/TeHenga and everything in between. It must help to nurture the local economy, including the arts community through the redevelopment of Lopdell House and advocate for limited economic development which conforms to the Heritage Area Act while maintaining the integrity of the Waitakere Ranges. This must remain the creative dynamo and playground of the west.
