Timaru District Councillor Jane Coughlan is to stand for the Mayoralty in the local body elections for 2010.
Jane’s extensive local government experienceand her professional background see her well-placed to take on the Mayoralty.
As well as being an active mother, grandmother and former farmers' wife, Jane is also a Registered Pharmacist, and a Fellow of Trinity College of Speech and Drama in London. Jane is glad to be at a time in her life where she is free to focus on those things that are important to her, which has seen her retain and further her commitment to many local organisations. This trusted energy has seen Jane returned by voters for 6 terms as a Timaru District Councillor.
Jane is a sitting Timaru District Councillor and has been returned by voters for the past 6 terms. She is Chairperson of the Timaru Community Arts Council as well as the Council Representative on the Citizens Advice Bureau Management and South Canterbury Historic Places Trust. She is also involved with the Basilica, St Mary’s and Chalmers Restoration Trusts, Women’s Community Centre, Fraser Park, Y.W.C.A, and Roncalli Development Charitable Trusts.
