Jan lives with her husband Brian at Glen Murray where they have established a vineyard and olive grove. She is an active golfer, indoor bowls player at Glen Murray and been an elected Board Member of Howick and Waikare Golf Clubs. She has considerable experience working in local government from regulatory to arts, large city to rural towns. Recent responsibilities included Manager Manukau Leisure Services (Pools, Recreation Centres, Halls and Events); Hamilton City Arts & Culture Unit Manager (Libraries, Museum, Theatres) and Director Museums & Heritage for Waipa. All these roles involved identifying opportunities and priorities and working effectively with diverse individuals and groups in both town and rural areas to achieve the best outcomes within available resources. An important part of the Community Board Member's role will be to understand our local community needs and issues, then advocate on your behalf to ensure relevant local input into Council plans.
