Qualifications and experience: B.Sc (Hons) in hydrology and earth sciences, with 30 years experience in resource management and related issues. Part−time Planner with Waiau Fisheries and Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Trust (wetland and stream enhancement work in the Waiau catchment) and Fish and Game Southland (Resource Consent and Planning work). Community involvement: Councillor, Environment Southland (1989 − 1995, chairing several Committees); Southland Conservation Board (11 years in total, eight as Chairperson); Waiau Working Party (Chairperson 1990 − 2010); Nature Heritage Fund − Committee Member. I have a life−long interest in farming, environmental and conservation issues, a wide knowledge of the Southland Region and its natural resources, a good understanding of the Resource Management Act and an interest in efficient and quality spending in the Local Government sector. The future of Southland depends on good management of our natural resources.
