As a rural resident Jan has a heartfelt and genuine interest in rural issues and in the needs and aspirations of the rural and coastal communities and their townships. She wants to represent the Wairoa Subdivision on the Franklin Local Board. Jan is concerned that the new Auckland Council will focus mainly on development of the CBD and that rural issues could be ignored. It is important that she uses her many years experience on the Manukau and Auckland Regional Council to advocate for and protect the strong rural community and identity.
