Living in the Kaiapoi area since the 60s, at Pines Beach, Clarkville and Ohoka, I have had a long history of involvement in Waimakariri community organisations, including Waimakariri Community Arts Council, Creative Communities, Waimakariri Arts Trust, of which I am a trustee, and an executive member of Kaiapoi Art Expo.
My career in education included 22 years teaching English at Kaiapoi High School, and I continue to support local young people acting as a mentor with Big Brother Big Sister.
My involvement so far in making the unique and picturesque town of Kaiapoi a better place to live and visit, has resulted in the completion of the Kaiapoi River Obelisks; working with Visit Waimakariri developing the Arts Trail; and with my husband Angus, running a bed and breakfast in Ohoka. As a supporter of local business development I acted as MC for the North Canterbury Women's Expo held in Kaiapoi.
