Community Board:

I stand for the community board after living in Raumati Beach for twenty years, working for the Kapiti Council as a District Libraries Manager for twelve years and as a district councillor for six. I have a good working knowledge of the Paraparaumu Raumati area and also for the way that our Council operates.

I am a strong supporter of community boards. I believe that they should act as an interface and advocate with Council and its various communities.

There are issues in the Paraparaumu Raumati area which will need some energy to make them happen. These include the Raumati Beach and Paraparaumu town centres, the aquatic centre, storm water projects and environmental concerns. I will work towards mitigating the effects of the proposed Sandhills Motorway which as it stands will have a very adverse effect on our community.

The Kapiti Coast is such a fantastic place to live! I have lived in Raumati Beach since 1990 when I became the District Libraries Manager, until the completion of the award winning Paraparaumu Library.

While a strong infrastructure – water, roads, sewerage etc is vital, other amenities are important to create a vibrant communitiy.

I will work for the arts, recreation and libraries, for improved health facilities, public health facilities, increased business and tourism opportunities, a realistic approach to development, solutions to climate change challenges, particularly as these issues relate to the Paekakariki-Raumati ward. Working to mitigate the Sandhills Road effects is a priority.

This ward encompasses three very different and unique communities which should be preserved and enhanced.

As a third term councillor I bring experience to this position which will assist your community.
