I’m Gareth Morgan, and I ask for the opportunity to serve as your elected representative as councilor for the Northern Ward.  I offer my fulltime commitment to the role in order to provide a high level of consultation and a strong voice for residents.

My primary goal is to ensure the Northern Ward is a safe and enjoyable place for families to live, and Wellington an appealing place for tourists to visit. 

I support a carefully considered development of the Johnsonville Mall, and will work hard to ensure that residents concerns about higher density housing result in council actions.  I will promote the development of Newlands Town Centre and look to ensure that projects such as the large Lincolnshire Farm development have positive benefits for the established communities through investment in expanded facilities.

We need improved facilities for cycle commuters and a realistic approach to transportation planning.  

I will promote a high level of accountability for council spending and increased interaction with ratepayers and residents through the use of technology.  Recycling initiatives needs to be expanded, and the levels of pollution entering our waterways reduced.  We need a tougher stance towards graffiti and vandalism in our neighborhoods.
