Born in Holland in 1958, Fred migrated to New Zealand with his parents and two brothers in 1963.

Growing up in Tokoroa, Fred went on to tertiary study achieving degrees in science, building science and architecture with honours.

Fred has for the past 25 years practiced architecture from his home at Lake Tarawera, where he lives with his wife and children, and where he has been actively involved in protecting this unique environment.

Fred is concerned that Council has moved too far from its core functions of providing essential services to its ratepayers and believes it should not be spending ratepayers' money on court battles it can't win; on airports it can't fly; on tourism marketing and promotion; and on sister city relationships, when such functions are more appropriately undertaken within the private sector.

A vote for Fred is a vote for fundamental change, common sense, and hopefully, significantly lower rates.

Top 5 Issues
