Why am I standing?  I have had some concerns for quite a while now with what I perceive is a breakdown in relationships between Horizons and some sections of the rural community.  We need to work together as with Horizons being the “Environmental Overseers” many of their decisions affect farmers directly and the majority of farmers are doing their best environmentally during very difficult economic times.  Horizons have launched some good initiatives, the SLUI being one, but the negativity that has surrounded Horizons during the One Plan drafting and consultation has overshadowed these.  Bridges need to be rebuilt.
