I am a married man with three children. My wife and I have lived in Nelson for the past twenty-three years. Nelson is a city for families.
As a police officer, my career has spanned 41years and my integrity has been key to my attaining a senior level of responsibility with the organisation. If I say I’ll do something, I will. I’m an experienced manager with skills in operational, strategic, planning, financial and development areas.
I’m an experienced Nelson City Councilor, having previously served two terms on council. I strived for transparency of council workings and decision-making, and I firmly believe that it’s now missing.
If re-elected to council, I will continue to be a positive councilor who holds the interests of all Nelsonians to the fore. I will endeavour to advance the interests of the city and to ensure a peaceful and prosperous community.
We must balance our needs as a community with the availability of funds. The unchecked spending of money must cease. Compare the rate increases with similar other communities for the past 3 years. The current financial recession that grips the country must be considered by this council in the ability of its residents to fund future needs. We can have everything we need as long as we take a prudent, responsible and objective approach towards the financial ability of our community to pay. I am not afraid to make the decisions necessary for the good of the community at large.
