An Auckland City Councillor since 2001, Doug is committed to continuing to deliver affordable rates and water and real results for the ward whilst ensuring its uniqueness is preserved.

Deputy leader of C&R and Chair of the Finance Committee,  he has held rate increases within Council’s rate of inflation (this year 1.9%) and delivered  major projects including re-sanding of Kohimarama and St Heliers Bay beaches , undergrounding the Hobson Bay pipeline and new footpaths.

Doug is a Civil Engineer, a Distinguished Fellow, past President of the Institution of Professional Engineers  NZ and former CEO of UNITEC.  He has served on many major boards/committees including the PM’s Enterprise Council.

A lifelong resident of the Orakei ward  Doug has the qualifications and experience to make the new Auckland work.

He deplores political correctness and inefficiency.
