Diane is enthusiastic, energetic and positively committed to making the lovely Kapiti Coast a great place, to live, work and play.  She especially enjoys working with environmental groups who are restoring streams and rivers and planting reserves. Diane is the convenor of the 3 Keep Kapiti Beautiful groups which are doing great work in our district.

Diane is leading the community fundraising for the Aquatic Centre, a much needed facility.

Diane welcomes the upcoming review of the District Plan which will shape the future of our district, protecting ecological and heritage sites, increasing our bridleways, walkways and cycleways and preserving the natural beauty of the district.

Diane's background is in youth leadership and community service for the past 40 years. She is a long serving councillor who hopes to continue to represent you on the Council.

Diane also serves this district as a Marriage and Funeral Celebrant.

Top 5 Issues

  1. Roading
Council must work hard to get the most benefits we can from the expressway for locals people. She was in favour of the western link road and would have much preferred that to be built.
  2. Water
WIth the Council having secured a site for a future dam and with the river recharge option being used to complement the Waikanae River, Diane believes we have solved our water problems for many years to come.
  3. Stormwater
An hydraulic modelling process will be completed within the next two years which will help prioritise this work which is very necessary and will take some years to complete.
  4. District Plan Review
This is now underway and is very important to the future wellbeing of the district. This will incorporate the community visions raised in the Choosing Futures workshops held in the district over the past years and will secure that ecological and heritage sites are preserved and the naturalness and beauty of the coast are not lost for future generations.
  5. Aquatic Centre
The Kapiti district needs a aquatic centre which will meet the needs of all people in the district from little ones to the older generation as well as the more serious swimmers. This will commence in 2011 and will be opened that year. Diane is leading the community fundraising and has had good support for this project.

Personal Profile

Diane has raised 4 adult children in this district and has had the pleasure of seeing 4 of her 8 grandchildren grow up on the coast.

She has been involved in many and varied community groups over the years, including Girl Guides and Church Youth Group activities.

She worked for the Presbyterian Church doing pastoral visiting so know the needs of the older generation too.

Diane retired from the position of Registrar of Births, Death and Marriages and now works fulltime as a Councillor.
