International urban development and transport
planning engineer and project manager. Well
qualified, experienced, competent, able and keen to
serve public interest in an enablement−oriented, go−
ahead city which enthuses and empowers kiwis,
especially our youngsters, to stay, pitch in, and
prosper.
To that end, Council must stop straight−jacketing, imploding and (re−)
constructing a 'designer city' around public transport regardless of cost−
effectiveness, efficiency or affordability. That approach is frustrating
private choice, economic development and job−creation, achieving no
significant net social, environmental, infrastructural, aesthetic or
functional 'goods', over−consuming resources including energy (despite
claims to the contrary), ruining our economy, rendering housing
unaffordable, and driving our kids offshore.
The RMA displaced town planning 'to (better) enable' development, thus
jobs and prosperity. Yet 'sustainability' has become staggering, stalling,
stasis and stagnation. Roads First seeks wholesale change of planning
emphasis from designer city to helping people and groups (clubs,
companies) build their own 'better mousetraps'.
