Extra medical students could receive initial training in Wellington. Small acute medical centres are required in outlying areas to give overnight stabilizing care. The recent introduction of paramedics in ambulances who can provide more in-home care is a useful development which needs to continue.
I have a NZ Doctorate (1997), have worked as a theatre technician in Intensive Care and managed aged care facilities. I am currently an elected councillor and am deputy to mayor on Regional strategy committee. I voted more dollars to youth services especially for mental health initiatives. I have served on hospital transportation committees and am currently on the steering committee of ‘Abbeyfield’. I have served until recently on Kapiti Health Group which is supported by CCDHB and council. I have common sense, intellectual grunt, governance experience and a Christian concern for others in our community.
