Hi I'm Dave Cochran a resident of the eastern Ward of Porirua.  I have a son, daughter and grand children living in Porirua so I have a real interest in ensuring our city continues as a great place to live and conduct business.

I am standing for council fee of party or group agendas, ready to listen to the concerns of all our varied but valued residents.

Porirua is growing rapidly and the challenges to be faced require an experienced council working as a team to seize the opportunities on offer and lead our city during this important phase.

I offer you the voter, my skill and experience gained from more than 27 years in the transport industry as an operator and company director and my extensive community involvement, within the social welfare sector.  Past chairman of the Childrens Board.  Past president of a branch of Birthright and many years as secretary of school committee/trustee.

I have also been an industry representative on another council's transport and tourism committee.

My promise to you is that I will devote my time, energy and experience to see that Porirua is the city moving forward with vision and pride into the second decade of the 21st century.

A better tomorrow can start today.

Top 5 Issues

1. Upgrading our our sewage and storm water infrastructure. This will help the improvement and conservation of our harbour.
2. Planning to take advantage of the opportunities that will ensue from the new roading developments eg. "Transmission Gully" which will create huge opportunities for the logistics sector.
3. For too long we have been a dormitory city for Wellington where the bulk of our skilled workforce spend their days and their money. We need to encourage business, professional and Government services to relocate to where the workers are.
4. New liquor legislation will enable council to limit the poliferation of off licence outlets
5. Ensure ratepayers can see that their rates dollars are well spent for community benefit.
