I have lived in Wairoa, apart from ten years overseas. I was educated at Tuai School and Wairoa College. I am married to Jan and we have four children. I farm in Ohuka and have also worked for AFFCO and Quality Roading and Services (Wairoa) Limited.
I am standing as a candidate because I have been approached to do so, want to, and I believe to do so you must be committed. If elected I know it will be a massive learning curve. I believe a Councillor today needs to cover both the rural and urban areas, realising that all parts of the Wairoa district are important to each other.
I also believe every person should be treated with respect.
I believe in open, fair, transparent business in local government and engaging in consultation on significant issues at an early stage, not after the decisions have been made.
