I am a farmer and have lived and farmed in the Galatea area for most of my life. 

Relevant experience: 

Degree in Economics and Master of Business Administration (Otago University). 

Extensive governance experience in a range of regional processing and energy companies, including Chairman of a public listed company for over 10 years. 

Local Government experience as Mayor of Whakatane District for six years and member of the Bay of Plenty Regional Land Transport Committee. 

Long and active involvement with river management issues. 

Issues: 

Headquarters location. I strongly support retention in the Eastern Bay. 

Council Governance. Standards need to be raised. 

I have a keen interest in most areas of Council from urban transport issues to flood management. I can make informed and strong contribution in all areas.
