I taught in Katikati six years ago. My wife Christine and three year old Jasmine were so impressed with the town and the people we decided to stay and buy a house. I have worked on a city council community board dealing with housing, motorway, drainage and harbour water quality issues. I have written policy and documentation and have been spokesperson for a number of organizations. When I heard of Katikati's multiple town plans, the bypass and other unfulfilled promises, in the last two years I have submitted successfully to council plans on a number of Katikati issues and observed the lack of effective communication between council and its communities. Medium term planning is not transparent, projects appear to take priority over people and debt is mounting. With the KAPTeam, I want the Council and Community Board communicating and seen to be working with a passion for progress in Katikati.
