After thirty years living in Tokoroa I am totally committed to supporting our community. My goal is for every resident to feel proud of our town and the beautiful, productive countryside surounding it and for others to recognise "our place" as the treasure it is. I was elected to the South Waikato District Council after being Principal of Amisfield School for twenty years. As councillor I have been recorded as having high attendance at both meetings and policy forming workshops. (%96) I am an active participant supporting progress while regulating financial demands on ratepayers. I have attended regular meetings of the Safer Community Council, Engineering and Auto Mechanics Steering Group (Trade Training) District Plan Review, Airport Steering Group, Transport, Concept Plan and many community functions. I am a past president of Tokoroa Rotary.
Contact me any time. I can generally be found on Tuesday mornings working voluntarily at St Vincent de Paul's Swanston Street shop.

Personal Profile
The South Waikato has been my home for most of my life as I was born and raised here. I began my teaching career at Tokoroa East School, met and maried another East school teacher, a Mangakino boy and gave birth to two of my three children at Tokoroa Hospital. Some years later after time away from our town I returned as Principal of Amisfield School. My husband was already Principal of Strathmore School. My school had a declining roll with less than 70 pupils but with good management and the help of many able people it became a vibrant attractive place with a peak roll of 260 pupils. Six successful ERO reports confirmed the schools achievements and described me as a strong effective leader. During my career I gained university qualifications which included papers in leadership, strategic planning, communication and consultation. I was also very involved with the teachers union NZEI.
After 20 years I wanted new challenges and so three years ago I became a councillor for the South Waikato. I felt that with my experience and vision for a Tokoroa growing stronger, more attractive and more popular I could bring about changes to a town I have always loved and enjoyed. I believed and still do that to bring about change we must not only ensure that big projects like the event centre are affordable, purpose built and reach conclusion but that attention must be given to every aspect no matter how small of our town and surrounding countryside.
I have attended meetings as council rep for a large number of organisations some of which are noted above. I was involved in the project to erect the Whats On signs at the towns entrances and transport meetings which is an ongoing project.
I still have a vision for Tokoroa. I have recorded high meeting attendance, I am a vigorous debater who wans a safe healthy attractive town. I listen to others and incorporate their ideas into my thinking. I want to build on my experience over the last three years.
