Bob Wichman has been a Manukau City Councillor for 17 years. During this time he has been Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and the Corporate Governance committee.
His main focus at council has been to concentrate on ensuring ratepayers money is spent wisely, while at the same time enabling important infrastructure projects to come to fruition He has been supportive of such projects as the development of Sir Barry Curtis Park, the extension of Puhinui Road to Auckland International Airport, the construction of Te Irirangi Drive, the creation of the Multi Sports Facility at Papatoetoe, the continued development of Lloyd Ellsmore Park, planning for the upgrade of the Papatoetoe Town Centre, and the new Mangere Arts Centre
As a member of C&R and an Auckland Councillor Bob will continue to support much needed infrastructure developments while ensuring that the economic viability makes good sense. He will listen to what people have to say, and try and take their concerns into his decision making, with a Manukau focus and an overall Auckland improvement in mind. What is good for Manukau should inevitably be good for Auckland as a region.
Bob fully realises that his role at Auckland City Council will enable him to use his position and influence to improve the well being of not only Papatoetoe but also Mangere, Otara, and Otahuhu residents. These areas will need a hardworking and focused Councillor who understands the needs of a multi cultural community each with a separate need but a common goal. Working in this area gives Bob an insight to the many needs of such a community, and being part of C&R will mean he is part of a team which has the prosperity of Manukau and all of Auckland as it's focus.
Bobs desire to get things done influenced his choice to become part of the C&R team as he believes that only their support will help him make the wishes and needs of his Manukau community and the rest of Auckland actually eventuate.
The last nine years on the Counties Manukau District Health Board has enabled Bob to influence his desire to improve the health of his community particularly in the areas of diabetes and heart related illness. These two problems are a major factor in the poor health of Counties Manukau residents and Bob even went so far three years ago as to stand outside a supermarket and give way hundreds of dollars of fruit to shoppers hoping they would get his message and change their dietary habits. CMDHB has a dedicated managerial and front line team who work tirelessly to provide the region with the best health care available, and Bob is proud to be part of this team
PLEASE SUPPORT BOB WICHMAN AND C&R TO MAKE AUCKLAND A CITY TO BE PROUD OF.

- Bob has reputation at Manukau City Council of being extremely prudent with the way ratepayers money is being spent, and will continue to do so when elected to the Auckland Council, he spends ratepayers money as he spends his own, with great care.Rates must continue to be affordable while at the same time allowing our city to grow & improve.
- Bob is concerned with the gridlock on Aucklands roads, and will support any improvements that make economic sense and will ease the traffic congestion.
Bob supports good public transport but believes that personal vehicle use will continue to grow and must be allowed for by planning for growth with good roading infrastructure. - Auckland has a great network of active sports fields and indoor facilities, but many of these
need continued upgrading, and improving these within Manukau will be a major influence on his decision making on the Auckland Council - Beautification and tidiness are at the heart of any city, and Bob will always support initiatives to improve the appearance of Manukau and Auckland.
