Debt Free Hongi Newee spells out my position. I am not a dreamer who thinks there is any magic solution to debt, but I do know that increased borrowing is not a way out of it. My challenge will be to pursuade council to change the culture of debt financing, at least listen to alternative ideas for funding. Hongi Newee is, to me, also about listening to others and working in partnership with Iwi - and anyone else for that matter. So don't vote for me if you want to keep increasing debt. And don't vote for me if you are content with the confrontational style of past councils. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master River Ship certificate; but consider the university of life to be my best preparation for a role as councillor.
