I am not called the Ratepayers Watchdog without good reason. Over the years, my letters to the editor, active monitoring, participation in council issues and going into bat on your behalf bear testimony as to how dedicated and serious I am. Given the opportunity, my aim on Council would be to listen, respect, value and understand the needs of the Community. Of deep concern is Council's excessive rate increases & excessive debt levels. When considering projects, I would take into account the Ratepayers ability to pay. Council must learn to live within it's means by careful budgeting, spending wisely and getting value for money. Too much money is being squandered at present. I believe in transparency, openness, a high degree of integrity and Community involvement in major decision making. I do not want to see Ratepayers and their families committed to a lifetime of debt because of luxuries.
