The new Auckland Council and the ensuing Ward system is an opportunity to change the culture of Council in our Region. The new Franklin Ward is going to continue to be faced with a diversity of challenges. To retain and enhance our rural villages, to protect our coastlines, to continue the sustainable growth of our bigger towns is one set of challenges. Another is to ensure that Council does not hinder or retain growth. Economic development and growth will gain for all a better future. An improved infrastructure, roading enhancement and community works is of considerable importance. Council needs to deliver what the community wants. Council costs and bureaucracy need control.
