After two terms on council I feel more inspired than ever to serve as a community representative. I take my position on council very seriously and see it as an honour and a privilege. My first term was 'learning the ropes' so to speak, and over the last three years I feel I have become a lot more familiar with council procedures and obligations, especially in my role as Deputy Chair of Infrastructure Services Standing Committee. The last triennium has certainly had its share of controversial issues and topics. I feel comfortable with the outcomes because council members are, in the main, independent of parties or political groups, meaning that decisions have been made by independent representatives, collectively achieving a majority vote. As a community we have to live and let live. Finding the balance is what matters. I believe in and stand for Dunedin's future as a Main Centre.
