Bernadette, (Bernie), born in Samoa, has lived here for 23 years. As co−ordinator for Avondale Mainstreet, her responsibilities include publishing the Spider's Web newspaper each month and organizing community events e.g. Carols, Dale the Avondale Spider's Birthday party, Easter promotions and Avondale Fun Day. She is an organizer supreme, known and enjoyed by all. Bernie is Deputy Chairperson for the Rosebank Primary Board, a busy Justice of the Peace assisting people every day and part of the network action group, for community groups in Avondale, Blockhouse Bay and Point Chevalier. She worked with special needs students at Auckland University and is the proud mother of twin boys, now 10−years old. Bernie is efficient, capable, unfailingly pleasant and hard working.
