Growth and development in Hokitika and the district has been steady and paced to match what is economically possible within the ratepayers abilities.
Some of the risks involved have had a negative impact in areas of the Business district that need to be addressed. A traffic strategy will help shape traffic
flows and parking needs into the future. Balanced approaches to long term projects will help identify and develop solutions to problems as work continues.
The community is steadily developing it's own responsibility for the vulnerable people in the population. With support from the Safer Community Council more can be done to support people and add value to all aspect of living in a vibrant, progressive community.
As a grandmother, I want to see our district continue to encourage our youngsters to train, return and enjoy a prosperous life in the loveliest place on the planet.
