The challenge that we now face is making sure that we retain the benefits that Manukau City Council has worked hard to provide and more importantly to ensure that you get a fair share of any benefits in future. To do this well your representatives at the Supercity must have the experience to know what our communities want and how to make sure that we get it. The first term of our new Supercity will be the most challenging because the foundation for the future will be laid. Which is why I think that experience counts for a lot. I have been a councillor for the past 6 years and was a Member of Parliament for the another 6 years prior to that. I have served in just about every council's committee and understand what it takes to get things done and understand how local government work.
