- ~Consult with Local Community for Local Development~
I strongly believe in an asset based community development strategy; ie people who live in the area and access services be consulted on priorities that affects them for the next 3 years. As your representative, I will provide local leadership to influence local decision making, and involving you from initial discussions to implementation thus building a strong community. - ~Seek Equitable Rate Returns~
Council will effectively focus on improved standardised regulatory charges on core council services such as dog licences to building consents. I will ensure maximum benefit with minimum or nil charges for services such as libraries, parks, centres, pools which impact daily lives of all. - Re-establish a Crime Free Whau Settlement
~Safe Neighbourhoods mean Safe Settlement.~ A community where people engage, build trust and can reach out to neighbours is a best practice solution to tackle crime. I will listen to your views to creating vibrant open spaces, to encourage community enterprises and opportunities and to organise local cultural events. - ~Local Infrastructure as Economic Drivers~
As your local representative, I will work with Auckland Transport for better road and motorway access for our Whau Industrieal zone and the new residential New Lynn and Town Centre development. I will discuss the potential for local employment for local development as a means to invigorate economy to this boundary. - ~Eco Environment~
I will encourage community gardening for all communities and build community partnerships in promoting a 'clean green' Whau. We will have input on refuse management, recycling and keeping the Whau River and embankment clean and pollution free. Together we will achieve local milestones for Whau.
