Ann Hartley has lived and worked on the Shore for more than 40 years, and she’s devoted much of that time to serving the local community.  As Mayor of the first North Shore City Council she led the planning process for some of the city’s most ambitious projects, such as the development of Albany as a commercial and residential centre.  Other achievements under her leadership were Shepherd’s Park, Fernglen Gardens, Kauri Centennial Park, and the Takapuna Beachfront Reserve.  She also ensured that land was secured for the North Harbour Stadium. 

As chairperson of the ASB Community Trust, she is deeply involved with the provision of services and facilities across the whole Community.

Her distinguished career in local and central government has prepared her for the challenges of the new structure.  She knows from long experience what is likely to work, and has the confidence to oppose bad decisions.
