Andrew has lived in Auckland since 1978 calling Piha home.  He holds a BComm /LLB and has worked offshore including several years as a Director of MTV Networks Europe in London.

Since returning to Piha Andrew has committed to Waitakere and  passionate about the West.  He has steered local company Parex Industries to solid growth every year.  He and his mates won the right to build and operate a now popular Café at Piha.   He also helped launch mother’s website Mums-On-Top, was Founding Chairman of the NZ Hot Water Association and contributed to Project K, Ronald McDonald House and Paw Justice charities.

Please vote for Mark Brickell and Marie Hasler and all our Citizens & Ratepayers - Waitakere Team.

Top 5 Issues

  1. Community:
Strengthening and protecting our vibrant communities in the Ranges. Ensuring communities support one another and take responsibility for local issues in a proactive and positive manner.
  2. Leadership:
Leading positively and effectively, supporting and encouraging community groups, business, schools and individuals to achieve their aspirations and potential.
  3. Affordability:
Creating an affordable region to live and work in. Delivering value for money across all public services, project and assets under Local Board management.
  4. Prosperity:
Welcoming and championing progress to a world-class Auckland.
I will help create an encouraging and welcoming environment for entrepreneurs and innovators backed by infrastructure and regulations that enhance growth and opportunity. I will be part of a new Auckland Council which champions a culture that helps people get things done. I will embrace partnerships with the private and not-for-profit sectors to build and grow our community assets. I will help ensure the Waitakere Ranges becomes a welcoming events and tourist destination that benefits our local economy. If you live out West you have a right to make a living out West! I will work tirelessly to ensure we create improved local employment opportunities.
  5. Transport:
Making it easier to get around. Improved planning, infrastructure and public transport all have a part to play here to getting Auckland moving again. This will be one of the major challenges as Auckland population continues to grow.

What are LB's actually going to do?

Hi Natalie

This is pretty much a clean sheet under the act.   The Local Board\'s first responsibility will be to submit a plan including proposed budget for the local delivery of services, projects and asset management.   This will need to be signed off by the new Super Council then the Board will be charged with the implementation of the plan and management of service levels etc.     There are clearly some services which are better managed locally (such as local parks) and others which are better managed on a region wide basis (such as region wide public transport).. the first term will be about defining what belongs where so it is going to be interesting!

Any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Best wishes

Andrew
