The Royal Commission on Auckland Governance reported that, "The Commission was impressed by the passion of submitters such as Allan Matson, who devotes his time to fighting for the preservation of Auckland's heritage". Formerly a merchant banker and retrained as an architect, I've lived and worked in Central Auckland for 20 years. With degrees in Marketing and Architecture, I'm on the Boards of Civic Trust (Auckland), Heart of the City and the NZ Historic Places Trust, and for the last six years I've focussed on protecting such local buildings as the Fitzroy Hotel, Jean Batten Building, Yates Buildings and Shed 10 on Queen's Wharf. My experience in banking and heritage enable me to make a valuable contribution to the city both now, and for future generations, and your vote for me as a local board member would enable me to continue making that contribution, independent from party politics.
