Ajit Balasingham has lived in Northland for 23 years. Born in Sri Lanka he came to New Zealand in 1987 qualifing here as a Chartered Accountant.

 

Until recently, Ajit was the managing director and part owner of United Carriers Ltd, a large transport and logistics business. Under his direction, United grew from a local business to a significant national freight company with international logistics capacity. This gave him hands-on knowledge in both local and regional transport and a clear sense of what is working and what is not working for Northland. Ajit now has business interests in infrastructure development and property. He wants to use his considerable experience in logistics to help Northland get ahead.

 

Ajit has been contributing to his community as a committed Rotarian for 18 years and is the Deputy Chairman of the Northland Rugby Union.

 

Ajit lives in Whangarei with his wife and young son.
